They say mimicry is the highest form of flattery. In the case of entrepreneurship, mimicry might also be the fastest way towards success. You can’t take the ideas of the world's most successful entrepreneurs, but you can adopt their lifestyles. Silicon Valley, in particular, has long been focused on optimizing one’s lifestyle in such a way that it brings out the very best in you and that can give you the slightest of edges in the business world, an arena in which small degrees can count for a lot.

Everyone ultimately has to find their own path and what works for them. Still, the principles that we’ve outlined below should get you moving in the right direction.

Self-Discipline

It’s not just what you do that counts. What you don’t do can be just as — if not more — influential. While we tend to think of entrepreneurs as having an open, positive mindset, a large chunk of an entrepreneur’s success actually comes down to saying no. No to parties, no to social obligations, no to lying in bed, no, even, to going outside and enjoying a beautiful summer’s day. There’s still space in the entrepreneur’s life for those things, but by and large, they’ll selectively decline. Building a successful company requires all of one’s energy and mental capacity, especially in the early days.

Self-Care and Growth

Building a business is tough. Running a business is tough. No one becomes an entrepreneur because they expect a straightforward, stress-free life. It’s par for the course. For this reason, entrepreneurs proactively invest in self-care and growth. They may exercise to boost serotonin production, take flmodafinil for cognitive enhancement, speak with a therapist about their challenges, and recognize when they need to take a break for a few days. This mindset helps to not only maintain positive well-being but also provides a competitive advantage. It’s much easier to deliver your best when you’re feeling your best.

Goal-Setting

Successful entrepreneurs never rest on their laurels. They look to the future, and not in an abstract way. They set goals and then work towards them. This, actually, becomes even more important when the entrepreneur has reached a level of success. When that happens, they can often find themselves with more options and opportunities than they know what to do with. Setting goals provides an anchor that helps to block out the noise and continue working towards what matters the most.

Sticking to a Routine

There are many factors about entrepreneurship that’ll be beyond your control. In that climate, it’s important to hold onto the things that are within your control. You can’t prevent a competitor from popping up, but you can stick to a routine. Consistency is a powerful, underrated asset for entrepreneurs. You’ll find that your brain can tune into ideas more clearly when you’re not continually trying to figure out your next move. Lunch is at the same time each day — often the same lunch, too — and bedtime is always at the same hour. It’s a small thing that can make a big difference.
